Bicycle and vehicle inspections begin on noon Thursday. 

Team and Racer meeting at 6:00 Thursday evening

RACE STARTS

Race starts:

BARE BONES, teams and solos 8:00 AM THURSDAY

SOLO RACERS  6:00 AM Friday

RACING TEAMS      10:00 AM Friday

 Special situations may warrant different starting times, i.e. hand bikes, velomobiles.

 The intent is to have a Sunday luncheon to award prizes and share experiences.  Since no one has completed the race it is hard to predict actual finishing times.

The race will proceed under NEARLY all weather conditions.   August is the only month that has never reported snow. For long stretches of the course there really is no way to get out of the weather.  Safety is always the first priority.

If the weather is hot and a rider is getting leap frog support it is essential that water is always available.  Occasional support does not mean NO support.

All race or tour participants will be required to join the UMCA, Ultra Marathon Cycling Association, at least for the duration of the race.  This is so we can get cheaper insurance, which will allow the race to go on.

Notes for BARE BONES:  For the first 250 miles towns are very small. Gas stations and convenient stores close at 8 PM, and we're not kidding about that.  For the last 130 towns are nonexistant or small.  You need to plan accordingly.
